PLANNING FOR THE FUTURE OF DOWNTOWN SUNDRE
The Town of Sundre is developing a Downtown Area Redevelopment Plan (ARP) to establish a long-term vision for the future growth, development, and revitalization of Downtown Sundre.
As an important part of Sundre’s identity, Downtown serves as a central gathering place for businesses, services, residents, and visitors. The Downtown ARP will provide a planning framework to guide future land use, redevelopment, building design, streetscapes, public spaces, transportation, and other improvements that contribute to the character, function, and vibrancy of the downtown area.
As a statutory planning document, the ARP will help guide future development decisions while supporting a welcoming, accessible, and vibrant downtown that reflects Sundre’s unique small-town character and meets the evolving needs of the community.
HOW IS THE PLAN BEING DEVELOPED?
Development of the Downtown ARP has included input from the Downtown Area Redevelopment Plan Committee and Town Administration.
The process has included reviewing existing conditions, identifying opportunities and challenges, developing a vision and guiding principles, and preparing objectives and policies for the future of Downtown.
A draft is currently being developed and will be available soon!
Community feedback is an important part of this process and will help Administration and Council understand what residents, businesses and property owners would like to see reflected in the final plan. Please join us at the Open House.
