The Water and Wastewater Operator (AEP I) is responsible to gain training in the maintenance and day-to-day function of the Town of Sundre’s water distribution system, water treatment plant, and the wastewater and purification system. This position assists senior level operators by working hands-on in conducting pipe and hydrant leak detection, testing, flushing, quality testing, damage repairs, valve exercising and repairs and installations. This is a skilled technical position that requires the incumbent to work in the field, which may involve heavy lifting and manual labor.
The right person for this position will not mind getting their hands dirty while working side by side with their fellow employees. This 40 hour a week position will require some evening and weekend work and eventually participate in the Town’s regular call-out rotation, be a Grade 12 graduate and have a valid Class 5 Graduated Driver’s License.
The ideal candidate will be highly motivated as this is an excellent career development opportunity to obtain skills and knowledge, obtaining a long-term career within the Operations department. This candidate has the ability to attain Level I & II certifications from the Alberta Environment and Parks (AEP). Level I & II AEP certification holders are encouraged to apply.
