Roadway Flooding Causing Multiple Closures

Update June 5, 2017:  River flows have returned to normal seasonal levels after being significantly higher than normal last week and over the weekend. Caution should still be used in and around the waterways as surges are possible due to continued melting and rain in the mountains. Sundre Emergency Management monitors the river and waterways that effect Sundre daily during the spring and summer and are in communication with Alberta River Forecasting 24/7. Anyone interested in viewing river flow /levels can do so at https://rivers.alberta.ca/Home/Index or download the Alberta Rivers app at https://open.alberta.ca/interact/apps-for-alberta#filter=

Due to rain and the melting snow pack the Red Deer River continues to flow at above normal seasonal levels.  People are urged to stay away from the river until levels return to normal. 10 St SW and a couple of roadways west of town are closed due to localized flooding of the roadways. No other flooding is expected at this time. We will post more information should conditions change.
